Protecting Blue Whales and Blue Skies is a voluntary Vessel Speed Reduction (VSR) Program along the coast of California.  By creating seasonal and predictable slow speed zones, the program helps reduce fatal ship strikes to endangered whales, air pollution, fuel use and regional greenhouse gas emissions.  SmartWay is an EPA program that helps the freight transportation sector improve supply chain efficiency.  Cargo shippers, retailers, ports, and NGO partners play a very important role in the success of both these programs to reduce the environmental impacts of shipping.  In this co-hosted webinar, you will hear from our partners at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as well as representatives from one of our top participants, Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC), and one of our first Brand Ambassadors, Summit Coffee Roasters, about why they got involved, and how you can too.
